Dear David,

I am writing to you in hopes that you will be able to convey Sylvania’s concern over the current Finance Committee Bill Raised No.1160 which in sections 17(e) & (f) takes the full fund ($97 Million) for a period of two years and places them into the general fund.

Sylvania is a manufacturer that prides itself on our environmental practices and policy.  We have worked with NE Utilities extensively to promote energy conversation in the state of Connecticut.  Sylvania believes that these funds, when used to promote and educate consumers have vast benefits to the state including eliminating billions of gallons of water from being used, eliminating billions of pounds of carbon emissions, significantly reduce the depletion of our natural resources and save millions of kiloWatt hours of energy.

As a major manufacturer of energy saving products, Sylvania works very closely with the residential program groups of the utilities.  We commit thousands of dollars to joint programs that support the very important mutual goal of energy conservation and education.  Those states that do not elect to commit funds to these programs, receive lesser support than those who recognize the many benefits of residential programs.

I am hopeful that the finance committee recognizes the importance of these programs, and reconsiders Bill No. 1160.  With the many goals that Sylvania and Connecticut have made over the past few years, it would be devastating to see them slip away.  Please pass along Sylvania’s concerns, and feel free to contact me with any questions or if I can help support the importance of residential energy conservation funds in any way.

.

Best Regards,
